Compound Turbochargers
DPS 3rd GEN CUMMINS COMPOUND TURBO CHARGERS
Compound turbochargers are a type of forced induction system commonly used in high-performance diesel engines, such as the 3rd gen Cummins. This setup consists of two turbochargers working in series to increase air compression and improve engine efficiency. The primary turbocharger, known as the low-pressure turbo, feeds compressed air into the secondary turbo, called the high-pressure turbo. This sequential arrangement allows for higher boost levels and better overall engine performance.
